Artist's Description
In the piece Retired I see the image portraying a restful meditative and internally reflective state of being. The degree of empty space is representative of a quiet mind or a state of presence. I feel that it captures the comfort and ease of a loving and respectful relationship. It embodies the joy of closeness and relaxation surrounded by simplicity with a focus on eternal oneness with being. It was created in spontaneous (Xie Yi) style Chinese brush painting on rice paper.
About Bill Searle
Bill Searle is an avid enthusiast of art, nature, life and the evolution of human consciousness. Early works were in pen and ink and that remains a favorite medium for him today. Being a spiritual seeker, he developed an interest in eastern cultures and philosophies which included The Tao, Zen, the study of Okinawan Karate, Tia Chi and Chinese Brush Painting. Bill found a passion for artistic expression through this medium. Using Chinese brush techniques, he attempts to capture the essence and spirit of his subject matter while striving to maintain a simplicity that balances interest in the subject and meditative spaciousness. Bill and his wife Heidi are full time travelers, artists and seekers.

Bill, would you like to contribute a story to go along with this wonderfully meditative painting on artofequus.com? Was it inspired by a couple of horses that served as your muses, teachers, healers, friends or partners? Would love to know more.
Bill Searle replied:
See the story at www.artofequus.com entitled "A Ride to Enlightenment ".

Being more visual than verbal, it is hard for me to express how much I love this piece, Bill. The simplicity is so appealing yet so much is communicated. Wonderful work!
Bill Searle replied:
Carol, you've got the verbal thing down beautifully. Thank you very much for sharing your comments.
